One for the final workshop of the year! A big group of about 150 students attending a 4-day Our Singapore Leadership Programme with National Youth Council.
Really loved the energy of the group, who immersed themselves into the game play, and brought wonderful insights to the big group discussion. Interesting perspectives/suggestions raised by the participants:
The game considers mainly the economic and environmental aspects of sustainability. What about including the element of social sustainability (i.e. satisfaction levels of citizens when a policy is enacted)?
Players could take on different roles such that they would have to devise a plan of action befitting of the stakeholder they represent
e.g. Different countries (DCs vs LDCs)
e.g. Businesses vs individuals
Players' strategy would likely vary if they had different starting points in terms of affluence (e.g. In the first round, a player might implement policies that are more damaging to the environment to benefit their economy if they started with only 10 units of money instead of the usual 50.) [very reflective of reality, that each country has its unique context/set of circumstances]
Ever thankful that we get to share this game with so many people. It has been such a fulfilling year with Getting to Zero, and I am excited for what's ahead. 😌 More importantly, I'm thankful for the people who are and have been on the journey together, what a wild ride it has been! ❤️ [shout out to Yu Pin and Karina for the #mentimetertelepathymoment today 😆]
Success is when we empower and enable our future generations to surpass us.
